From Assessment to Action: ELI7 Foundation Takes the Next Step
In August 2026, we shared news of our menstrual health assessment across schools in Bauchi State — an initiative that took us into classrooms to hear directly from young girls, their teachers, and school communities about the realities they face when it comes to menstrual health.
What we found was both eye-opening and urgent. Many girls lacked the confidence and knowledge to speak openly about their menstrual health. Teachers confirmed that while girls do approach them with concerns, the necessary resources and support systems are often simply not available. The gaps in awareness, access to hygiene resources, and safe spaces for conversation were clear.
That assessment was always meant to be the foundation for something bigger. Today, we are excited to share that we are moving from understanding the problem to actively solving it.
Introducing Our GoFundMe Campaign
To bring this comprehensive programme to life, ELI7 Foundation has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise the funds needed to execute a full-scale menstrual health education and support outreach across schools in Bauchi State.
The programme will include:
- Menstrual health education workshops facilitated by trained health educators, covering puberty physiology, hygiene management, nutrition, and self-confidence.
- Direct provision of sanitary pads and hygiene kits to sustain girls throughout the academic cycle.
- Menstrual wellness print journals for cycle tracking and health habit building, especially for students without smartphone access.
- Parent, teacher, and community advocacy sessions to break taboos and foster supportive environments at home and in school.
- Long-term digital support through the Amara platform — a mobile and web app offering cycle tracking, educational content, and Hausa language translation.
How the Funds Will Be Used
Transparency is at the heart of everything we do. All administrative and setup costs have been fully absorbed by the foundation, meaning 100% of funds raised will go directly toward field outreach, beneficiary support, and programme delivery.
Our fundraising is structured in two tiers:
- Tier 1 — Field Operations ($32,000 – $48,000): Fully funds direct physical outreach, sanitary pads, hygiene kits, journals, and workshops across 20 to 30 schools, reaching 4,000 to 6,000 girls.
- Tier 2 — Full Programme ($47,000 – $75,000): Covers everything in Tier 1 plus the development and launch of the Amara Digital Health Companion app for long-term impact.
